Imagine Clark Kent in his Superman outfit trying to shop smart in Manhattan! Well that is what this new App is like! And I am not Superman - but hey it sure feels like it flying through Manhattan on my Iphone. I showed it to friends at a Black Tie Dinner last week and they ordered immediately - and I was not in my Superman suit. This is FUN! It makes shopping great and shops so accessible and easy to find! A Superman job indeed. Congrats Van Dam!
Ive tried other New York City shopping apps, and this is by far the best. I love the look of the 3D maps, and the stores are always well chosen and exactly what Im looking for. Highly recommended!
The app is stunning and very similar to the Manhattan streetsmart version also available on itunes. The application looks very much like the paper version and is really great because one no longer needs the printed version at a more competitive price (the GPS even locates accurately your position, a function a paper map cannot achieve !). The apps, however lacks the subway network map or an address search option that could be a valuable addition. Overall a must have.
These VanDam NYC apps are insanely involving. They reconstruct the variety and depth of experience that I love about New York (a market with "sustainable meat from animals raised on small, local farms" - who knew?) -- and remind me of how much I have yet to see and do. I especially like being able to press a finger to a location and instantly have all the nearby places of interest pop up, with the relevant detail just one tap away. More to the point, though -- I want one of these for Chicago, where I live! A caution: To make them work reliably you have to quit other open apps, so you cant casually flip back and forth to email, Angry Birds, or whatever. Hopefully this gets smoothed out in future releases.
This is a wonderful map of New York City, easy to use and with many references for places to visit and to shop. The 3D interface enhables to travel through the city with a better understanding of its urban make up. Bravo!
